Hey Timo, thanks so much for taking the time to catch up with us! Weirdly enough, this is the first time we’ve managed to have a proper chat, so let’s get the basics out of the way upfront:
MyCityByNight – Timo ODV – we reckon we already have an idea where this came from, but for anyone that doesn’t know, where did your artist name originate from?
TIMO ODV – timo comes from timothy. ODV comes from my dutch surname Oude Vrielink
You’ve just released a brand new album called Origins – how long did it take you to get it together for release?
I’d say about 8 months in total
And in terms of the inspiration behind the album, were you trying to convey a particular message with it, or did each song have its own unique message?
I don’t think i was trying to spread any message other than just sitting in my studio making music and expressing myself
We know that this is a pretty difficult one for artists to answer, but do you have a favourite song off the album?
Yeah i do, it would be dancing again it was so impromptu and it’s just so dark and dirty I usually don’t like my own music when its done, but this is the first song I’ve ever liked after it was done
What is your view on featuring other artists on your tracks, does it add to the song or just make it even more difficult to get things sounding right?
Great question, it depends sometimes i will record artists and then not use their vocals, its very hard because music is a lot of experimenting and sometimes experiments fail its best then to admit defeat and try again
Which artists would you most like to collaborate with in future?
Maybe Mathew Mole and Black Coffee
What has been your most memorable event or party you’ve played at in the past?
There are a few – I’d say Rage, 5FM liveloud and 947 Joburg day
Any creepy behaviour from your fans that we should know about? (Do they ask you to sign their boobs?)
Sometimes they write save me or song lyrics on their boobs but thats not really creepy 😀 😀 😀
Any projects or events featuring you that we should keep an eye out for over the next couple of months?
Durban Day, Rage, Corona Sunset Festival and a bunch of club gigs 🙂
Can we have a cameo in your next music video?
hahaha u asked too late its already done 😀
Damn… so close!
Where can people get in touch if they want to follow a day in the life of Timo ODV?

Last week Friday saw the official release of a brand new music video from TiMO ODV for his new single, MAKE YOU LOVE ME featuring RYKI. MAKE YOU LOVE ME is the latest single from his debut EP, ORIGINS, released in September 2016.
The song was written by TiMO ODV earlier this year and produced more recently as the lead single off the EP. The song is about two people who long to be with each other, but can’t seem to make it work. He chose RYKI to collaborate with on the song, seeing as her voice and vibe suited the song.
The video was shot by Kyle White in various parts of Johannesburg around Newtown and the Maboneng Precinct, all over the course of one day. He describes the song as having a dark undertone and thus the edgy city shots in black and white fit together with the atmosphere of the song
