The Spoken Word

Unorthodox… Peculiar… Different… The words to describe Matt aka Yeti can go on for days but as an entity this is of great importance as both character and aural journey stand out in ways we find hard to not be taken aback by. Decorated and humble about it, Yeti has touched souls at different points of the world with his disc jockeying movements taking him to some of the most unexpected places. With a shift away from DJing and moving towards a more production-based mindset we can expect even more from the now long-haired maestro and we welcome it with open arms. Yeti is a household name for sure and a move away from home could be fruitful in what he brings us when he returns.

The Scoop

1) Describe Yourself In Three Words

Matt: The Desert Yeti.

2) Dream Festival?

Matt: Boom (Alchemy Circle), Garbicz or Waking Life.

3) Your Fave Release Of All Time & Artist To Watch Out For?

Matt: Of all time i couldn’t put a name on it but something i’m really enjoying at the moment is Oliver Koletzki – Planetarium (Midas 104 Remix).  There are a bunch of really good artists coming out of the woodwork, i’m really enjoying what Why Not Nod are bringing out at the moment. South African Hip Hop at it’s finest, my favorite since the days of Max Normal.

4) Advice For The Dreamers, Trendsetters & Up N’ Comers Out There?

Matt: Follow your highest joy and do it with integrity. People can feel when you’re doing something because you really love it and when you do it for that reason and that reason only.

5) What do you have going on currently? What can we look forward to?

Matt: By the time this comes out I will be in Australia. Headed over that side to facilitate a permanent move to Berlin, where hopefully I can make the transition into playing my own music live, and play a couple of gigs towards the beginning of the summer season down there. Hopefully by the end of the year everyone will be hearing some of my new production and getting to know the direction in which I’m moving.
