Name: Xavier Dragner
THE SPOKEN WORD
Perpetually dynamic and versatile… The Knysna-born artist is the custodian for the youth of campus life in Stellenbosch and his ideology has made him synonymous with music lovers in the area. A impressive notoriety with throwing carefully planned events has led to some real massive outcomes and can also be seen in his work during Plett Rage. A set and experience worth being a part of, we welcome the future of events under his wing. On an even more important note, we urge you to give one of his sets a go!
1) Three Words to Describe You
Xavier: Adaptable, passionate, realist
2) Dream collaboration? Who would it be? Locally and Internationally?
Xavier: Locally I would love to work with Cinimin or Kyle Watson. I’ve been lucky enough to share stages with them but never any studio time.
Xavier: Internationally my dream collaboration would be with Lane 8.
3) Passion vs. Pushing The Brand? How do you find the balance with it?
Xavier: I’m lucky enough to have a day job that helps me push my brand and passion for the music industry. Pushing your brand can sometimes clash with what you’re truly passionate about. People may not always like what you’re doing, but with persistence your brand will reach the right audience.
4) Advice for up n comers?
Xavier: Even if you’re not booked, attend the events you see yourself performing at. Don’t be afraid to send those promoters/organizers a message or even chatting to them in person. Building connections early in your career will open doors in the future. Lastly, you will receive tons of negativity, pushing through and believing in yourself will get you to the top.
5) What can we expect in the weeks to come?
Xavier: I’ve been focusing on my productions and I’m happy to announce that I’ll be releasing some new original music soon. I’ll be releasing some previews on my VOW FM residency every 3rd Thursday of the month.
