The Scoop

1) Describe Yourself In Three Words

Kaelem: Daring, understated, passionate.

2) Dream Festival?

Kaelem: I’ve heard great things about Fusion Festival in Germany. It’s held in a former Russian military airfield, and embraces counter culture and non-commercialism, which is very intriguing and quite “Burn” -esque. I guess Burning Man too then, but that’s not a festival per se.

3) Your Fave Release Of All Time & Artist To Watch Out For?

Kaelem: I can’t put my finger on one favorite release, but the most important release for me in the last 20 years is Only Freak – Can’t Get Away (Solid Groove Remix). It played a big part in my immersion in deep house. Local artist to watch this year would be Pierre Johnson. Internationally, Tim Engelhardt.

4) Advice For The Dreamers, Trendsetters & Up N’ Comers Out There?

Kaelem: It’s been said so many times, but just do you. Focus on what makes you unique and what you love. Your own ideas are more valuable than a copy of someone else’s, so tell your story and tell it with conviction.

5) What do you have going on currently? What can we look forward to?

Kaelem: I will begin lecturing at the Pioneer DJ Institute later this year, doing one-on-one music production courses with aspiring producers. This will mean a lot more time in studio, and in time, some new tunes from Terrasoul.
