Name: Emil De Beer & Sebastian Kuhne
The Spoken Word
Timelessly appealing and oh-so-vibrant. Emil and Sebastian are two sides of the same coin… A token which opens a door to something so deep and ruthless, it can only be regarded as something out of this world… “Secondnature even”. The boys have been hard at work pushing out some really underground quality which has been gaining a lot of appealing to locals and internationals alike and look forward to their very sneaky collabs to come. They’ve kept their head down, let the inspiration flow and the hard work is paying off. All you have to do is wait for it to drop and you will understand it all…
1) Describe Yourself In Three Words
Seb & Emil: Driving. Aggressive. Melodic.
2) Your Fave Release Of All Time
Seb & Emil: That is hard, but I think a top favorites for us will always be Ghettoblaster by Enrico Sangiuliano and Subzero by Ben Klock.
3) Artist To Watch Out For?
Seb & Emil: Internationally we’ve really been liking what SAMA has been putting out. He’s definitely going to be a force to be reckoned with, he has a really clean unique sound that is definitely on par with the top dogs.
Seb & Emil: Locally things are getting exciting. We’ve really been enjoying what Sensus are doing up in Jozi, and Jozi seem to be loving it as well which is great. Then we would suggest keeping a close eye on Eben (HAEZER/Embassy) new Record Label CNSLR. Some real heat being put together there.
4) Advice For The Dreamers, Trendsetters & Up N’ Comers Out There?
Seb & Emil: Trust the process and don’t expect favors. Just because you started something does not mean it deserves support, you have to work for the support and with that said; the work will never stop. Also, attack your niche. Don’t focus time and energy into something local when the market for it is not local, that way you will quickly find out if it’s meant for you. Lastly, work smart. Make an effort with your aesthetics and brand.
5) What do you have going on currently? What can we look forward to?
Seb & Emil: We have a new two track EP coming out on a prominent SA label, as well as another in the works which includes a collaboration with a very talented producer from Argentina.
