The Spoken Word
Darker than her persona leads to show, Satori is another one of those artists we don’t get a chance to see live with her working keeping her away from SA shores. Humble, jovial and down-to-earth, Jeanelle is something of a rare breed who has an untouched energy on and off the stands. We have been gifted a bit of her this year and know she will be back home soon. We urge you to look out for her.
The Scoop
Three Words to Describe You
Jeanelle: passionate, musical, tree-hugger.
Favorite Release of All Time
Jeanelle: Mmmmmm….toughest question ever!! So many tracks to choose from that have created pure magic for me on stage, especially throughout the years in different ways. The one that stands out is Rebirth from Plasmotek for its embodiment of pure energy, playfulness and psychedelic power. It’s timeless!! But seriously too many to choose from…It’s like asking who is better: Bob Marley, Kurt Cobain, Mozart, Queen…they all brilliant.
Artist to Look Out For
I would say artists to look out for are Nukleall, Magik and locally…Priest 😉 Besides for the other firm favourites of course.
Advice and Tips for Those Trying to Find their Sound
Jeanelle: First of all know your sound, your style, your groove. You can only play music that moves your soul, your body to the depths of your being. Now combine that with a good ear, tons of passion, skill and determination and you are gearing up for a good start. There’s a running joke, that if you throw a stone into the dance floor you will hit a DJ. There’s many out there! If you want to make it, stand out, be original, develop your skills, know the game, network (but be sincere about it) and always always always, leave your ego out of it!
What can we expect from Satori in the weeks to come what can we look forward to?
Jeanelle: Currently I am on a journey at sea living on a big ship gathering resources for my next move. As soon as I’m back on land, I will be hitting the decks again furiously. In the meantime I am working on my sound and how to develop Satori in multiple ways. One thing is for sure, there are lots more to come!
