Name: Magnus Claussen
THE SPOKEN WORD
Legacy must be acknowledged within the music community and this artist right here is at the top with the best of them. Magnus aka Itone has been bringing us his own unique take on a “musical journey like no other” before anybody has the opportuity to call it a niche, being ahead of the curve with the likes of progressive & psytech heavyweights Headroom & Broken Toy. Having been a bit quiet with good reason, as he has been cooking up some pretty epic things in the studio. A humble soul with a sound distinct to the avid festival-goer, Itone has cemented himself into the psytrance history in SA.
1) Describe Yourself In Three Words

Magnus: Smashing Pumpkins- Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, Deftones- Around the Fur / White Pony, Tool- Aenima
Magnus: Psytrance is more difficult because my tastes are frequently changing but the most influential of all time for me personally would probably be : Atmos – Headcleaner, Absolum – Wild, Astrix – Eye to Eye.
3) Artist To Watch Out For?
Magnus: At the moment i’m really enjoying Dekel, Sawlead Ground, and Coexist some amazing progressive sounds coming from these guys, definitely secret weapon material.

4) Advice For The Dreamers, Trendsetters & Up N’ Comers Out There?
Magnus: Death to the formula!! develop ,and stay true to your own sound , after almost 20 years of producing I’ve only really started to use that advice and make music for me, music I’d like to hear , instead of trying to make what I think people want to hear. It’s very easy to imitate what inspires you or what you think is popular at the moment, but you’ll always be one step behind. Take risks and experiment, thats where the magic happens
5) What does I-Tone have going on currently? What can we look forward to?
Magnus: Im currently wrapping up an EP for release on Solar Tech Records, really exited and happy about this one. I feel It’s a close representation of the sound that I enjoy and would like to hear more of.
Magnus: Aside from that there are a few collaborations in the mix, some pumpers with Deliriant, Liquid Viking,
Breaker and Silent Sphere on the way
