The Spoken Word

The dark-knights who ride the wave between sub-genres in the most peculiar way… Finding the middle-ground and making it their own. Having had the opportunity to meet the duo you will get a feel of the calm and collected nature behind what makes Disco Volante what it is. A journey of variable proportions which has the ability to fit in almost any point of a lineup with both ease and panache. The Cape Town exports have been quiet… busy with the future… “Back of Beyond” the next EP we have been waiting for, for so long.

The Scoop

1) Describe Yourself In Three Words

Alex & Dan: Energetic, Driving, Melodic.

2) Your Fave Release Of All Time?

Alex & Dan: Pitch Hikers – Twilight Zone (aka the bible), D-Maniac – Obsessions, Headroom – Artelligent, Tickets – Dreaming Of Places. (additionally the releases by Artifakt, The Commerical Hippies and Deliriant).

3) Artist To Watch Out For?

Alex & Dan: There is so much fresh upcoming talent dishing out quality full-on psy music. The new local and international generation is hungry and eager to get recognition. Would have to say Contrast and Aptitude (if he chooses to put out new releases).

4) Advice For The Dreamers, Trendsetters & Up N’ Comers Out There?

Alex & Dan: Try do something creative and original – don’t be too eager to put out something just because you finished it. Finding your ‘sound’ often takes longer than one would like, however creating your own identity is extremely important in an age of imitation. Do it for the love and from the heart! Also, keep pushing hard on your music production before buying a go pro.

5) What can we expect from Disco Volante in the next few weeks to come?

Alex & Dan: We have loads of music on the way! 2018 has already pushed plenty of inspiration into the D.V studio. Our new E.P ‘Back from Beyond’ is coming out very soon on Nexus Media. We also have a collaboration and remix with one of our biggest influences in the psy trance scene which we are super excited about. Additionally, we have a Euro trip in the works for mid year and of course some great local bookings to look forward to. Thanks for the catch up and looking forward to a rocking 2018.
