Name: Daniel Knoesen
The Spoken Word
Pristine within focus as we finally get to chat to all-around beast Dan Scot and take a look at his journey thus far. A very down-to-earth individual Daniel has become an inspiration to us all with his work in various points of musical interest. Ranging from Defuse & Sarutobi to Dan Scot & TerraMoon, he owns his craft and with the many years of experience under his belt for everyone to see, the evolution is quite clear. Versatile and ruthless as an artist we find a way to categorize Dan Scot into a niche of its own, which is him and our only understanding of it being the monarch of the transition set for a more mature palate. We look forward to the journey to come as much as he does.
1) Describe Yourself In Three Words
Daniel: Humble, Passionate, Focused.
2) Your Fave Release Of All Time
Daniel: Wow that’s a good question as I have so many favorites. My top release of all time, and a personal favorite has to be by K.I.M – Quack of Ecstasy.
3) Artist To Watch Out For?
Daniel: I just got back from a JHB gig that happened last weekend where they had a full line up of locals on the bill. The artist that played after me totally blew me away with his set. His key mixing and track selection was on point and the mature journey he created packed with a solid night-time punch is what sold it for me. He goes by the name of Jahmanji. I had heard of his name before but was a first I had heard him play. I can safely say he will blow a Cape Town dance floor to pieces.
4) Advice For The Dreamers, Trendsetters & Up N’ Comers Out There?
Daniel: My advice, and something I have practiced from the start of my career, is to stay humble. If your passion is true and you have a love for your particular craft then you will do well as long as you stay focused, play from the heart and never give up. Its not easy and does not happen over night but with the right perseverance and mind set you will get there and the reward will all be worth it.
5) What do you have going on currently? What can we look forward to?
Daniel: At the moment I currently have a duo alias, TerraMoon, with Plastic Vision. We created the alias a while back with the intention of digging deeper into the night time slots. We both have a love for the more darker, harder, faster and allot more psychedelic sound and both decided it would be a fantastic idea to team up and merge our talents giving birth to the new act shortly after our back to back set under our solo acts at Alien Safari’s Masqued Ball in 2016. Since then we have received really good response from our sets at Rez, Paradigm, Ears don’t lie, Echo Gatherings in the Garden Route, Ultranoize, Pulse and most recently Transylvania New Dawn. Our next booking is at Reset for the Zodiac team on 25 May.
Daniel: As for Dan Scot I’m super happy I’ve had the honor of being able to travel to JHB and Durban to play my sound at some well hosted outdoors and really humbled it was well received. I’m overly excited to be back at this years Vortex Phoenix of Fire and cant wait to see what the team has in store for us at their new venue in Swellendam. I have no doubt in my mind its going to be a stellar event if Opensource and last years Phoenix is anything to go by. Other than that you can look out for me on upcoming events for Paradigm, Trancemission, Zodiac and Echo Gatherings in George. Alternatively you can head over to my fan page and go to the events section where you will find all the upcoming events I’m booked to play at. Lastly keep your eyes peeled to a very popular Psy website where I will be showcasing one of my latest mixes. More info still to come on that.
