The Spoken Word

She’s electric and feels so much like inspiration personified. Lauren is the people’s person with a general passion for all things music, she’s a maverick of a vocalist with an attitude to match her soul. You will be sure to cross paths with her at a festival where she tends to dig into the earth and finds home in something electronic or psychedelic but if this is not the case, she will most definitely be grinding and putting out something fresh and new. You can give a listen to her brand new single on the 6th of November 2018.

The Scoop

1) Three Words To Describe Yourself

Lauren: Loud, Love-able, Loyal.

2) Where did it all start for you? As a musician? When did you feel you found your sound?

Lauren: I’ve found myself digging deeper into memory. A lot of my production stems from my past and in that has given rise to a greater sense of release. My sound is my past in audible form and this push towards expressing it is how it all started for me. This year has been the year as I am finally opening folders of emotions that I have been storing away for years.

3) Where does your inspiration stem from?

Lauren: I realized my past was relate-able. Creating my first three song. I started dealing with unresolved anger, hurt and shame. When it comes to music, I have finally cut the fear of people seeing my raw side. Showing who I really am writing and singing about my family and friends.

4) Artists to look out for?

Lauren: I admire many amazing artists and really hope one day that I too could be admired. The South African music scene is growing by the minute and is finally becoming more diverse. The artist look out for are the ones I really would love to work with and I would most definitely want to work with Timo ODV, Das Kapital, Lakota Silva, Aidan Caye, Max Hurrell, Shekinah, Cian Cruz, Matthew mole, Josh Wantie and Chunda Munki.

5) What can we expect in the weeks to come?

Lauren: Advent and myself will be releasing our next song ‘We Are’ very soon. The excitement is unbelievable. Look out for it on the 6th of November 2018.
