Name: Hayley Illing
THE SPOKEN WORD
Illing has always been a purveyor of the Techno sound highlighting performance from DVS1 and Anthony Parasole as memorable and moments that have inspired her to continue doing what she loves. From dance floor dancer to promoter to DJ/Producer, there is nothing stopping her. Having mentors such as pioneers, Dogstarr, Fabio and the duo Sound Sensible, Hayley has quickly picked up her DJing talent seeing her play at some of the biggest festivals in the country, including Cape Town shows like SpiltMilk, Future Frequency and many more.
1) Three words to describe yourself
Hayley: Excitable. Ambitious. Uncensored.
2) What Does Illing As An Artist Signify For You?
Hayley: Killing without the K. Following your passion can turn into something spectacular.
3) Who Are Your Biggest Influences as An Artist
Hayley: My biggest influences have been all the TOYTOY artists and TOYTOY in general. Had it not been for TOYTOY, I wouldn’t be listening too or playing the music I play out. I am so lucky to have these amazing people in my life who share music with me freely (sometimes not so freely, haha, Dogstarr/Fabio/Sound Sensible – cough). I am constantly learning and growing from them. The international artists they bring out to South Africa expose me to music I would never have been exposed too and I’m eternally grateful for this. Like they say, people who introduce you to new music are important people to have in your life. Watching DVS1 and Anthony Parasole were highlights for me, they are true masters and I strive to grow into something like that one day.
4) Newbies, Artists to look out for?
Hayley: Fabian Cioffi is an up and coming artist to look out for. I see big things for him.
5) What do you have going on Currently? What can we expect in the weeks to come?
Hayley: I’ll be playing at a new warehouse rave called Parallel Project at Victoria Yards on the 16th Feb, Whyly in Pretoria on the 21st Feb and Crater Gatherings in March. Later this year I have something super special coming up but can’t say anything yet. Watch this space.
