So apparently when you pour water off the side of a dam wall science makes sure that what you thought would normally happen doesn’t. I mean you’d generally think that gravity would carry it down the side as per normal, but it really doesn’t. Not really sure what I’m on about? Well have a look at this experiment that was recently filmed at the Hoover Dam in the US below:
Whoa, apparently it’s because of a bit of a weird effect related to the structure of the dam and the prevailing winds created around it:
The structure of the dam creates an upward draft that makes water actually defy gravity. Instead of travelling downwards, it is carried upwards by the wind.
