23-year-old post graduate, Liam Smyth recently set up a GoFundMe page to raise fund for his broken bathroom window – not only did the student manage to raise thousands of pounds but his story went viral.
After a rather successful tinder date, Smyth said he invited his date back to his place – “We had a lovely evening, and enjoyed each other’s company very much,” he wrote. “After our meal, we repaired back to my house for a bottle of wine and a Scientology documentary. About an hour into Louis Theroux and chill, my date got up to use the toilet.”
And that’s where things got kind of catastrophic Liam explains. His date returned panicked and flustered and with something to tell him. He said she explained, ‘I went for a poo in your toilet and it would not flush. I don’t know why I did this, but I panicked’, she told him ‘I reached into the toilet bowl, wrapped it in tissue paper, and threw it out of the window’.”
Apparently, instead of the turd being thrown out into the garden, it became trapped in the small gap between outside and the double-glazed window which Smyth calls “The Twilight Zone”. His date offered to retrieve her trapped excrement boasting her childhood gymnastic training and flexibility and attempted to squeeze into “The Twilight Zone” and landed up tightly lodged, face first in her own doo-doo. After 15min of trying to get her out, Liam contacted the Fire brigade who ultimately had to break down the window to safely remove his date and her poo.
Smyth explains he truly didn’t have the money to replace the window which he was quoted 300 pounds for “I’m not complaining, they did what they had to do. Problem is, I’ve been quoted north of £300 to replace the window. As a postgraduate student, that is a significant chunk of my monthly budget (in fact, that is my monthly budget).”
But all ended well because not only did Liam smash his 200 pound GoFundMe target but he closed in on a whopping 2147 pounds. He has promised to donate 100% of the excess to the charities Toilet Twinning and Fire Fighters Charity.
As for his tinder date? They have met up again since the incident briefly for a drink and Liam still stands by the fact that they really got on despite it all.
