This is one of those times that I’m in absolute awe of how far we’ve come in terms of film and video technology. WW2 was one of the most tragic and deadly World events to have happened and there were literally entire nations that were destroyed during the intense battles that took place during this time. Berlin was one of the last places to fall in the Hitler-led Germany and by the time the war was over it was just a shell of its former self.
The footage below is original video taken in 1945 just after the Germans surrendered, was restored and colourised in 1080 HD, which gives us a fantastic idea of what things were actually like during that time in Berlin.
