No, this isn’t just a bunch of guys wearing their girlfriends’ clothes, it is instead the latest photo series from Spanish photographer, Jon Uriarte. The series of portraits, entitled The Men Under the Influence, digs deep into equality in relationships and how the gender roles have changed since back in the day (like when your grandparents were around). Jon Uriarte decided to take photos of the dudes wearing their significant others’ clothes in the spaces that they shared as a couple.
He’s basically saying that men and women are finally viewed as equals, with some guys experiencing a bit of confusion around “not wearing the pants”. I found it quite intriguing and weird at the same time, which I guess makes it good art, right? This is what Uriarte had to say:
The photos attempt to capture men’s sense of loss reference, now that women have taken a step forward and have finally come into their own as equal partners. The project consists of full-length portraits of men wearing the clothes of their girlfriends or wives, taken in the space shared by the couple.
I’ve highlighted some of the best portraits below, you can see all of them on Jon Uriarte’s site HERE.
