In Cape Town and parts of Jozi, pimping out your car with as many subwoofers as possible so that the mooiness notice you when you drive past is a serious occupation. Little to the knowledge of these guys, there’s an actual science to car sound that says that more, isn’t necessarily better. The Grand Automotive Sound festival (GAS) – the first of its kind – will be held on Sunday, April 28 at the Grand Arena, GrandWest Casino in Cape Town to delve a little deeper into car sound.
Some of the country’s best sound cars will be exhibited and the indoor sound-off competition will be conducted by world renowned IASCA. Loud and Clear will do a live build, sponsored by Rockford Fosgate, for one lucky winner. He or she will have their vehicle transformed into a GAS sensation during the course of the event (which is pretty dope, if you don’t have any decent sound).
Some of the country’s top DJs will keep the crowd entertained from the Red Bull rig before local pop sensation Jimmy Nevis takes the stage. The young Capetonian is not only taking South Africa by storm, but the rest of the world too as he has already been signed with an international record label. Nevis will be performing live with a full band late afternoon.
Tickets will be available at the door: R60pp and R20 for children under the age of 12. Doors open at 10am, Grand Arena at GrandWest Casino, Cape Town.
