Goodluck Taking it Easy Album launch CT || Review

Last Friday was a bumper edition of MyCityByNight in Cape Town with us going to a zillion different events and having to do a spot of multi-partying… I managed to get myself down to the Fez in Mecau Street to catch the Cape Town leg of Goodluck’s Taking It Easy Tour.

I arrived at the Fez just before the start of Goodluck’s set and managed to a prime spot right in front of the stage to bust moves at. When they finally came on, the first thing that I noticed was Jules and her awesome little white party dress vibe (ahem)- she really has developed into a lead singer of note, with the ability to get the entire crowd vibing hard and getting totally involved. At one stage she was walking through the crowd, getting some of the hotties to sing along & try their hand at being a bit of a superstar- she even gave MyCityByNight a shout out *swoon*.

The energy that Ben & Raive bring to the set on the decks and selection of instruments while alongside songstress Jules is truely epic, I was jamming so hard that I broke a sweat and needed a cape thrown over me like James Brown. It was pretty awesome to hear the first single off the album entitled “Taking it Easy” performed live in a club, which was best described as “heaving” while Goodluck was on stage. To be honest I was rather bummed that we werent treated to a set that was a little bit longer- people were loving the electro-swing!!

I would love to see these peeps perform at something like the Kirstenbosch Summer Concerts and can definately see these peeps shooting to mega-stardom as South Africa’s newest and hottest musical exports. Yup- you heard it here first.

I really have to admit that MyCityByNight has a real soft spot for these uber talented peeps based on the fact that apart from constantly progressing and improving on their sound, they are also super humble and legendary to just kick it with!!!

Do yourself a favour and get the album when it comes out as a mass release early next year… In the mean time vote for them on the KFM & Highveld Top 40 chart with Mark Pilgrim on Saturdays (they need to be at number 1!!!)-

BOOOOM

Im a guy with a very particular view of life... im not quite sure what that view is just yet, but when I find out I'll be sure to let you know...
