Design Indaba is known for discovering, supporting and promoting up and coming design talent in South Africa. This year they have decided to throw something a little different into the mix by hosting a 3-day all-inclusive evening festival -after the conference- to further showcase the innovation and creativity housed in our beautiful country. This year Cape Town gets to experience Nightscape.
The festival is set to kick off on the 1st of March at the Artscape Piazza which will be transformed into a “dreamscape” by Senegalese creative director and Wonderland designer, Selly Raby Kane. Once the day’s activities at the 22nd Annual Design Indaba Conference end -from 5-30pm onwards- Design Indaba’s Nightscape Festival will take place at the whimsically transformed Piazza. An after-hours festival that is set to attract the diverse yet like-minded creatives of Cape Town for an “after party” of sorts. The festival will include a FilmFest, Most Beautiful Object in South Africa and Emerging Creatives exhibitions, fully stocked Chivas IndaBar, food, art, design, activations, talks and a music line-up that we’re over the moon about! Design Indaba has secured some phenomenal acts for their first festival with the likes of; Daddy G – Massive Attack DJ set – Felix Le Band, Moonchild Sanelly, Medicine Boy, John Wizards and more!
Nightscape attendees will also have the opportunity to attend the FilmFest taking place over the course of the 3 evenings and will showcase 6 never-before-seen in Africa feature films and short films. The Cape Town International Animation will also be premiering a very special project in collaboration with Design Indaba during the FilmFest, so stay tuned for more details on that.
All of these festivities will take place surrounded by beautiful and surreal art installations by the incredible Selly Raby Kane. Festival-goers will also be treated to a variety of Cape Town’s best food trucks as well as a FULLY STOCKED Chivas IndaBAR. This coming week we are super excited to attend this finely curated event of culture and innovation. A serendipitous night of creativity and romance with art and music will be a real treat for all creatives. Get your tickets online to secure your spot at this bespoke affair for just R80 online. R100 at the door or better yet, R200 for all 3 evenings.
