In its first year, Bazique Festival established itself as South Africa’s most original and exciting large-scale festival of performing arts. A 3-day reverie of art, music and surreal shenanigans, set in a majestic lakeside venue.
Bazique 2019 will feature 8 International and 60 local live bands and DJs delightfully spliced with performance art, spectacular site art installations, artcars, artboats, pop-up parties and a smorgasbord of the unexpected. This instalment will be in fabulous collaboration with Cape Town Electronic Music Festival, Wolfkop Weekender, Sexy Groovy Love, Bridges For Music, Diskotekah, Into the Wild, We House Sundays and with a cheeky twist of the secret garden party (UK)
Festival-goers will return to Bazique’s picturesque, 200-hectare venue, the Elgin Grabouw Country Club, just a stone’s throw from the Mother City. This year, the incredible club’s lake is full REALLY full and will offer attendees a warm water swimming experience, surrounded by mountains and fringed by 2km of sandy beaches where you can soak up every sunrise and sunset. And if all that couldn’t get any better, it will, because there’s an all-day party right on the beach at the Ukudlala Beach stage. Just perfect for relaxing just off the shore on your own floating chill-out area, soaking up the bass booming across the water!
The Department of Arsing About will also make a return to Bazique 2019 with Cape Town’s specialists in art-immersive entertainment, The Sunroom, who are once again in cahoots with the UK’s Secret Garden Party to delight attendees with a confection of Cirque, burlesque, situation comedy, interactive performance art and general ridiculousness.
New to Bazique this year is their bespoke packages – if you are flying in for bazique, these include airport pickups, luxury glamping options and a post-festival wind down 5-star wine lands hotel plus game drive experiences! For more info click here.
Bazique is an open source creative so if you have a creative and outlandish idea for a theme camp, artcar, art boat, art installation or an interactive entertainment idea then apply through firstname.lastname@example.org. Bazique Festival is a no under 20’s event.
In other exciting news, Bazique Festival will be co-hosting the lavish and large-scale New Year’s Eve experience, ‘Alcazar‘ alongside part architects Wolfkop Weekender which will take place in an outdoor/indoor venue in the City Bowl at the foot of Table Mountain. Bazique has curated the main outdoor stage which will be a three-story high, 3D printed, video-mapped facia of an Arabian fortress with deep tech house booming from its turrets and fire performers dancing on the parapets!
