FNB Live Whiskey Festival Cape Town 2010

The FNB Live Whiskey Festival has come to Cape Town for this year’s edition of one the most revered events in the social calendar. If you are a massive fan of sipping on a glass of the golden stuff (not pee, whisky you smartass) like myself and Stacky are, you’ll be pleased to know that you can go and enjoy some of the finest whiskeys that the World has to offer from the 3rd to the 5th of November at the CTICC in Cape Town.

Introduced eight years ago, this festival has now become the largest consumer whisky appreciation show in the world. This year all of the attendees will be blessed with more than 180 top brands to choose from including some new releases from Scotland, Ireland, the US, Canada, Wales, Japan, and South America.

The FNB Live Whiskey Festival has industry distillers, master blenders and global brand ambassadors present to take the consumers through whisky tasting workshops thus giving us a chance to meet some of the faces behind the brands.

Festival visitors have 15 one hour whisky tasting workshops from which to choose. Hosted by international master distillers, global brand ambassadors, and whisky experts, they are a chance to taste whiskies not available in the main tasting hail or possibly even South Africa (check out the Icons of Whisky Showroom for this). These lectures will run during the festival and be held in meeting rooms that hold 60 people. Apart from this, the event will include new features including The Pick ‘n Pay Food and Whisky Pairing Zone, where visitors can pair their favourite foods like chocolate with their choice of the golden delicious, plus three free and revamped educational initiatives – The Macallan Maturation Zone, the new Glen Grant Distillation Zone and an even bigger Schweppes Mixability Zone.

It runs from 18:00-22:00 daily from tonight until Friday… See you all there- I’m popping down for a little tipple tonight! 🙂
