Final 23-Man Bafana Bafana Squad Announced

After the emphatic 5 – 0 record breaking victory over Guatamala, South Africa should feel fairly confident going into this world cup, with just Denmark to play before the actual tournament gets underway. I know Guatamala aren’t a great side, but Columbia aren’t bad at all. We beat them both which is a great confidence booster. The only issue was that the squad had to be cut down to a 23 man squad which ment some players were going to make it. Parriera chose his final 23 man squad this morning and this is what it looks like:

Goalkeepers: Itumeleng Khune (Kaizer Chiefs), Moeneeb Josephs (Orlando Pirates), Shu-Aib Walters (Maritzburg United), .

Defenders: Matthew Booth, Siboniso Gaxa (Mamelodi Sundowns), Bongani Khumalo (SuperSport United), Tsepo Masilela (Maccabi Haifa, Israel), Aaron Mokoena (Portsmouth, England), Anele Ngcongca (Racing Genk, Belgium), Siyabonga Sangweni (Golden Arrows), Lucas Thwala (Pirates).

Midfielders: Surprise Moriri, Lance Davids (Ajax Cape Town), Kagisho Dikgacoi (Fulham, England), Teko Modise (Pirates), Reneilwe Letsholonyane, Siphiwe Tshabalala (both Kaizer Chiefs), Steven Pienaar (Everton, England), Macbeth Sibaya (Rubin Kazan, Russia), Thanduyise Khuboni (Golden Arrows).

Strikers: Katlego Mphela (Sundowns), Siyabonga Nomvethe (Moroka Swallows), Bernard Parker (FC Twente, Holland).

Dropped:
Rowen Fernandez (Arminia Bielefeld, Germany)
Benedict McCarthy (West Ham United, England)
Franklin Cale (Mamelodi Sundowns)
Innocent Mdledle (Mamelodi Sundowns)
Bryce Moon (PAOK, Greece)

The extra player will be a Vuvuzela, as Parriera said he needed the extra support and the extra noise!

No Benni MaCarthy? Fair enough, he is a fat shit, but NO BRYCE MOON? What the hell, our boy from the Cape deserves the call up. He is an awesome attacking player up front! It is a real pity for him and he should feel a little hard done by. He has had an exceptional last few games. Mr Booooooooth and Aaron Mokoena will be our strength at the back. Our midfield is looking potent though, with Steven Pienaar at the helm to take control along with Siphiwe Tshabalala and my favourites Surprise Moriri and Macbeth Sibaya! If any of you saw Bernard Parkers goal last night, you will know we are counting on him now to slot a couple goals from outside the box like he did last night. Not even the worlds greatest keeper Petr Cech would have stopped that.

COME ON BAFANA, WE ARE BEHIND YOU! BAFANA, BAFANA BAFANA THE BEST TEAM IN THE WORLD (hehe, we wish) but lets get behind the boys cause its ONLY 9 DAYS TO GO!

Rumoured to have the blue-prints for Krang's TechnoDrome, stolen straight from Dimension X, he’s the type of guy who exudes so much coolness that he adds whole countries on Facebook at one time instead of just people. Always up for a party and a Tequila shot or two this is the guy who we always call first, both before and after a night out…

  1. They jumped to 53rd?? Thats awesome, 30 places from 83rd…

Siseko, dont worry my man… I am now fully behind Bafana Bafana as well, I think everyone is. Never underestimate the underdogs especially on home soil. We could so easily provide an upset , I got no doubt about that. This side is look quality!

Bring on the Vuvuzela’s… each stadium is going to vibrate like mad!

    9 DAYS TO GO!!

  2. Yo Kreg I am not sure about the fact that bafana bafana are now ranked 53rd, sorry about that bru

  3. Jah I might be a cricket player but I know a good soccer player when I see one and I think that guy has a lot of potential and will attract the eyes of many scouts. Not forgetting Mphela, the guy is AWSOME.

The slogan should now change to “See it, it’s here”

  4. Bernard Parkers goal was heat, would have rivaled any goal in the premier league!! I would have like to have seen him give benni a run last night or at some stage so we could have had an indication to his form and fitness, as he contains a wealth of experience at the top level. A bit dissapointing for me. Kreg, what you think about Macbeth Sibaya, He hasnt been allowed to play since Nov last year? and now suddenly included in the squad? I like him, but he should have been playing in the team this whole time, and we would have a very solid starting 11… Anyways all we can do now is hold thumbs, and give them all the support we have.. Come on Bafana!!!

  5. Yeah I agree, a little disappointed about Benni, as he does have the experience needed in big games. I guess his weight and fitness were in the end an issue. I would also have liked to seen him have a run last night to show us what he could do. Macbeth is honestly one of my favourites, strong and attacking in the midfeild. I didn't know he has been out for so long but will definitely be a huge difference in the midfield.

Lets all hold thumbs and hope for a surprise visit to the next round of the World Cup…

BERNARD PARKER'S GOAL ABSOLUTELY BLEW MY MIND! UNBELIEVABLE! 🙂

  6. Siseko: You not necessarily wrong. My boet said that if we won yesterday we jump around 20 spots which ment 63rd, which isn’t to bad… now to beat Denmark and hell, who knows, we could end up at 50. Imagine that. from 83rd to 50 in 3 games… I am love how ready everyone is for this world cup. Makes me proud to be a South African!

  7. I am 110 percant behind bafana bafana and I believe that they will cause an upset during the wolrd cup, with more than 20000 vuvuzelas at every stadium the oppents will be shaken by the vibrations caused by the vuvuzelas. The team might be ranked 53rd on the fifa rankings but they are a side that should never be underestimated or else they will whip your behind.

  8. Good riddance to bad rubbish. Thank fuck Fat Boy is out. Now he can go crying weee weee weee all the way back to West Ham. Ass Hat.

  9. you should have given bryce moon a chance.you should have droped walters the goalkeeper.nosipho says khune rocks

  10. i am 125% behind bafana. it’s now less than 3days left and i still heaR PEOPLE SAYING they feeling it bt me im nt feeling it anymore, bt im seing it
