It’s been well over a decade since Family Guy first made it onto our TV screens and since then… um, well we don’t even watch it on tv’s anymore. The show was by no means as good as The Simpsons or South Park (in my opinion) and was in dire need of something fresh to change it up, which is probably why the show’s producers went to the extreme length of killing off one of the main characters, Brian Griffin.
In one of the biggest twists in cartoon series history, Brian (the dog) was killed off in this week’s episode and it doesn’t look like he’ll be coming back (after the Griffins adopt a new dog in the episode). Look I know it’s just a cartoon dog, but it’s still pretty sad whenever a dog dies. The executive producer had this to say when quizzed about the choice to kill off one of the main characters:
“This was an idea that got pitched in the writers’ room and it sort of caught fire, and we thought it would be a fun way to shake things up. We started talking about the next couple episodes and got very excited about the way this change will affect the family dynamics and the characters”.
