Transylvania Redemption Island returns this autumn with one hell of a lineup, certainly one of the hardest lineups at a trance fest we’ve seen this season. Making the beautiful treak back to the infamous and adored venue of Moreson farm, however, posed some difficulties. In the Western Cape, many festivals alike are beginning to encounter difficulties, but first, let’s take a look at what you can expect at the Island this year.
Transylvania has got you covered (literally) against the elements with a FULLY WATERPROOF set up in the campsite, which this year guarantees to be a strong and convenient layout. A fully sheltered haven a stone’s throw away from the wild and primal dance floor. Party goers can lavish in clean, built-in showers and toilets with hot water AT NO EXTRA DAMN COST PEOPLE! Various hydration points will be set up across the fest which is put together in such a way that you will not need to walk more than 50m to ANYWHERE, that’s right, a fortress will be built on the island where everything will flow from one point to the next, dance floor to campsite to chill zone. Did I mention chill zone? That’s right, there are a few new additions to Redemption Island this year. Want to know what they are? Sure you do. So here’s the dealio.
Upon returning to Moreson farm, the organizers were faced with a challenge presented by the owners: no more 24hour music. As frustrating as this may seem, it is certainly becoming the reality of the festival scene in Cape Town. Bills and Permits are becoming more stringent than ever and wider consciousness to sound pollution is becoming more evident. Moving venues was an option, however the organizers felt that fans of the party truly loved the venue and has somehow become the home of Transylvania. With its omnipotent like aura, the island has the perfect layout for a Transylvania setup. Besides, turning to a new venue seemed futile when the reality of the situation is that throwing a 24-hour party is becoming increasingly difficult. It simply makes more sense to bend and adapt to the tides of change to ensure Transylvania is a definite thing of the future. So from 2am to 8am. No Music. But is that really the case? Transylvania in association with Silent Events think NOT. That’s right stompers, for the very first time ever in SA, Transylvania will host a SILENT TRANCE from 2am -8am and we are pretty psyched to be one of the first to experience it. With multi colored headphones that will light up light up the dance floor in a kaleidoscopic swirl, we are certain this new experience will add a whole new whimsical dimension to the fest, giving stompers access to two kind of worlds if you will. To make this transition smoother you have 2 options, pre book (rent and return) your headphones for R70 OR you have the option to buy a ticket without the headphones and choose to pay later at the fest should you change your mind – this will also be available for R70 on site and they need to be returned after the SILENT TRANCE is done.
What’s more is that during the 2am-8am “no music” period the Island will be lit up with an array of bonfires to keep the set “on fire” while the Silent Trance takes place. Festival-goers will also be treated to an epic chill zone, so if you’re not keen to Silent Trance you can take your party elsewhere, however, we definitely urge you to give it a try.
We absolutely cannot wait to check the concepts at Transylvania this year and we have a good feeling this party will be making some waves in the Trance scene. Big ups to Transylvania for taking the first step and making way for new paths for Trance events and staying true to being a 24 hours party no matter what.
