I had a squiz at the upcoming shows on Comedy Central (DStv Channel 122) and noticed that one of the coolest shows out there, Drunk History, is going to be screened for the first time on SA tv. It’s based on the award-winning and wildly popular web series, “Drunk History” which follows the drunken and often incoherent narration of milestone historical moments such as Watergate and Lincoln’s assassination. Basically, all of these important events are re-enacted verbatim by stars like David Grohl, Winona Ryder, Jack Black, Lisa Bonet or Bill Hader to hilarious effect in Drunk History.
Drunk History has been added to the Comedy Central schedule for November after the channel enlisted the services of local SA comics to help pick new, edgy Comedy Central content. The panel of SA comedy heavyweights included Deep Fried Man, Lazola Gola, Robbie Collins, Brendan Jack, Warren Robertson, Gavin Kelly and Mo Mothebe.
Deep Fried Man had this to say:
“Drunk History combines two of my favourite things: alcohol and history. In truth, only one of those two things is really one of my favourite things, and it isn’t history. But alcohol definitely does make history much funnier and much less boring, and so does the great cast of comics and famous actors in this series.”
Tune in if you dig a bit of history and comedy… (and booze). Drunk History airs weekly on Comedy Central (DStv Channel 122) from Monday 4 November at 21:20 CAT.
