Aah yes, dj’s and event promoters with hearts… more rare than an iceberg off the coast of Iraq. Bigger Than Me in association with Heart Capital, Black Mango and the Breathe Sunshine Africa Music Conference and BPM Magazine present the DJs for Bread social impact events taking place from the 9th to the 10th of November 2013. These events are all about mixing charity work with fun with people able to register for DJs for Bread events and donate their time to the Food Pods project in Phillipi taking place on the 9th of November 2013 – in exchange earning a free ticket to the DJs for Bread gig taking place on the 10th of November at Fiction at 8pm.
Not volunteering will mean payment for entrance to the gig (R50) from Webtickets. Money received from ticket purchases will be donated towards the Food Pods project.
Greg Viljoen from Bigger Than Me had this to say:
“The whole point of the concept is about being Bigger Than You “Me” and giving back to something that not only empowers people but is also sustainable in the long run.”
On the 9th of November 2013, the project will be a celebration of food, highlighting the issue of food security in South Africa. Volunteers can expect to plant seeds, transfer seedlings to other growing pods as well as harvesting produce for the actual Food Pods that will be distributed through the Food Pods network in Phillipe. For more information in this regard visit: www.foodpods.co.za
The 10th of November 2013 will see the gig go down, where volunteers will gain free access to Fiction in Long Street, Cape Town if they donated their time and volunteered on the 9th November. Starting at 8pm, the DJ line-up includes the talented:
· Mix n Blend
· George Daniel
· Sir Vincent
