Its almost time for one of the country’s biggest expression of popular modern culture… Yup thats right- the Design Indaba Expo 2011 is about splash inspiration across Cape Town like you did paint on the canvas they gave you at pre-school. MyCityByNight are huge fans of the 100% locally developed celebration of South Africa and the deep levels of uniquely African creativity that we all possess.
A mix between advertising, architecture, craft, décor, film, fashion, graphic design, interior design, jewellery, new media, publishing, product design and visual media, The Design Indaba Expo 2011 has the MCBN crew super excited- and I mean night before christmas when you’re 5 excited.
2011’s edition has over 260 exhibitors, which are all judged by a huge, very well versed and knowledgeable crew of industry experts from the heights of our South African expression industry. This is a hectic guestlist to get onto if you’re an exhibitor, acclaim here, is a very serious honour!
This is one of the only expos globally that combines advertising, architecture, craft, decor, film, fashion, graphic design, interior, jewellery, new media, publishing, product design and visual media. It is also built around the idea that local design that comes from the minds of people like you and I is the main and sole focus, purely South African – no derivatives, and no imports. This is how we showcase to the World what the Rainbow Nation has to offer for export… This is how we create jobs.
The Expo runs alongside the Design Indaba Conference (this is unbelievable if you want to learn more about what is really going on at the forefront of local thinking through an intense, but touch pricey conference).
