Def Jam Rapstar- a more gangster version of Singstar

We’ve all had that rather drunken night when we’ve got home after an exceptional jol and decided that it’d be an awesome idea to battle your friends in a karaoke voice off or a spot of guitar hero. There is just something about pretending to be JK or Axel Rose on a plastic vibe- everyone likes Karaoke!!! 🙂

Finally the video game creatives have offered us something fresh in the sea of rather stale sing-a-long karaoke style games with the likes of Def Jam Rapstar. This particular offering lets all of us budding rappers and drunkards out there spit a verse over one of our favourite hip hop tracks. Ooh and what a collection of treffers it is…

Apart from my personal favourite rapper right now Lil Wayne, the game features the likes of:

■2 Pac – “I Get Around”

■A Tribe Called Quest – “Scenario”
■Beastie Boys – “Brass Monkey”
■Big Pun – “Still Not A Player”

An added feature that makes this game extra awesome is the inclusion of a social media component (pictured above) that allows gamers to faceoff with their karaoke style recordings of classic rap songs, thus becoming one of the first video games to do so. Basically, you upload an edited copy of your rendition of your favourite hip hop track on the game website www.defjamrapstar.com- a sort of Youtube and Facebook mix up, where they will be pitted against other players vids! We the public then get to vote on who we think won the battle- and as always there are some prizes involved.

Def Jam Rapstar is available on Xbox, Ps3 and the Wii and retails for around R400 on xbox and ps3 around a R100 less on the Wii. This one is def goin into our mcbn collection… Next late drunken night here we come- “aint nothing but a g thing baby” uns uns uns

Im a guy with a very particular view of life… im not quite sure what that view is just yet, but when I find out I’ll be sure to let you know…
