CODA Africa has been bubbling just under mainstream pop success and are now bringing their diverse performance to the intimate setting of Cape Town’s popular music venue, Café Roux. This unique act brings together electric strings with sax, voice and DJ. Their programme will showcase all the band has to offer in terms of their unusual ensemble. Kicking off with soulful original cello and violin duets, the evening will progress to solo’s from Judy Brown’s lounge album ‘Liquid Sax’ culminating in the powerful full 5-piece band fronted by vocalist, Zami Mdingi with DJ LuvChild on the decks. Their repertoire will include songs from their album Disclosure such as their electro-swing hit single Fat Boy which has featured on Good Hope FM.
CODA Africa is made up by Zami Mdingi (vocals), Galina Juritz (electric violin), Carol Thorns (electric cello), Judy Brown (sax) and DJ LuvChild.
A popular choice for varied audiences, CODA Africa has performed at numerous high profile and international events including concerts (Miss SA, Jazzathon, Jazz on the Rocks, Home For All, Cape Town International Jazz Festival, Woman of the Year, Nederburg Concert Series, Paul Cluver Forest Amphitheatre), fashion shows (Cape Town Fashion Week, Durban Fashion Week), sports events (J&B; Met, Durban July) launch parties and government functions.
Internationally CODA Africa has performed in the Seychelles, Zimbabwe, Dubai, Angola, Zambia and Botswana
