International travel collective Big 7 Travel‘s latest ‘Best Of’ listicle features 50 of the most scenic drives/routes across the globe which offer some of the most breathtaking views.
“There’s nothing like a good old fashioned road trip,” their official release states, “whether just for an afternoon or for a few weeks, there’s just something about loading up the car and hitting the road.” The list features Norway’s majestic fjords, Australia’s Martian landscape, California’s creamy coasts and two iconic routes right here in South Africa.
Both the Panorama Route (Mpumalanga) and Chapman’s Peak Drive (Western Cape) made the list – The Panorama Route scooped up 47th place and Chapman’s Peak Drive placed 40th.
Serving as a gateway between Cape Town and the South Peninsula, Chapman’s Peak offers up some of the most stunning views on the planet while Mpumalanga’s Panorama Route takes travellers around the north-eastern section of the Great Escarpment of the Drakensberg – linking many of the countries cultural points and natural wonders.
