Cape Town announced as host city for International Jazz Day 2020

The Mother City has been chosen as the official host city for International Jazz Day 2020, organised by the Spin Foundation. The festival takes place annually across the globe on April 30th and will be held in Sydney Australia next week.

Cape Town was revealed as the 2020 host with a theme of “tracing the roots and routes of African jazz.” The festival will be held at the Castle of Good Hope and will also include markets, workshops and a lineup of local and international jazz musicians.

We’re excited to share with the world in 2020 the type of jazz experience that shows the integration of the arts, but also an experience that goes into our past – particularly our continental and national heritage.” -Motsumi Makhene – Spin Foundation

The main festival in Cape Town will be accompanied by thousands of related events across the world on April 30, 2020, with an expected attendance of 10,000 jazz lovers at the Cape Town event and roughly 1 billion in attendance at sister events across the world.
