Cape Town residents who often travel internationally are well acquainted with the inconvenient connecting flight to OR Thambo and the long waits between flights that usually accompany their travels – especially when travelling from Cape Town to Australia.

But that could all soon be an inconvenient truth of the past as the Project Manager for Cape Town Air Access, Paul van den Brink confirmed, when speaking to Reuters that the group, along with Cape Town International Airport, are looking to “capitalise on the boost to the tourism market” caused by CPT’s new direct flights to New York and could possibly lead to a number of other new direct international flights.

Possible new direct routes include Brazil and Australia.  While the exact city was not revealed, Van den Brink did say that Cape Town may soon be connected with one of Australia’s “busy and bustling metros” and named the country as their main next flight route target.
