A young waitress from Gauteng named Ayanda experienced what some would call a life-changing moment last week when she received an R18 680 tip from a patron which will allow her to return to school and complete her matric.
The Beerhouse waitress from Fourways tended to a female customer last week who has chosen to remain anonymous. The patron’s bill came up to R1320 which she then rounded up to a cool R20 000. Ayanda called her manager on duty immediately to talk the customer out of the grand gesture but the customer said that Ayanda deserved every last cent of the tip.
Beerhouse owner Randolf Jorberg reached out to the anonymous donor, who told him she meant to leave every last cent of the tip for Ayanda, “I have no want to reverse this, no second thoughts about it and I was of sound mind when deciding to leave this tip,” she told Jorberg via Whatsapp.
The donor and Ayanda have since been in contact, the anonymous tipper only has one request for the young waitress…
Promise me you’ll use that money for good! I left it for you because I believe in you, I want you to succeed! Go study, be a badass woman, and when you make it, promise me you’ll remember this and help the next person.” – Anonymous Tipper
