Beatenberg’s new album, The Hanging Gardens of Beatenberg is probably going to go on to become one of the biggest of the year after the band came out from beneath the radar bursting into the mainstream (although being the hipsters that they are they’d never admit that). Their sound pays homage to our country’s musical history whilst also breaking new ground with their unmistakably global pop sensibility.
Catapulting themselves into the limelight with their collaboration with DJ Clock, on Pluto (Remember You), they’ve managed to follow this up with their current single, Rafael, which became the most played song in the country after only 4 weeks. Recorded between June 2013 and March 2014, The Hanging Gardens of Beatenberg was recorded at the idyllic Sunset Studios in Stellenbosch, with a few parts recorded at singer Matthew Field’s home studio.
Beatenberg are embarking on national tour to promo the album throughout August and September. Tickets are available through Webtickets
The album is available in all good music stores as well as on iTunes
