Banksy has once again come out to raise awareness around the rather important plight of refugees with his latest piece painted in the Calais refugee camp nicknamed The Jungle.
The piece shows Steve Jobs with his original Apple computer and a black bag over his shoulder and is meant to address the negative sentiment that these refugees are drawing from some sectors of the public by highlight the fact that Steve Jobs was the son of Syrian migrant who arrived in America after the Second World War.
Banksy also released this statement to accompany the piece –
We’re often led to believe migration is a drain on the country’s resources, but Steve Jobs was the son of a Syrian migrant.
Apple is the World’s most profitable company, it pays $7bn a year in taxes – and it only exists because they allowed in a young man from Homs.
We live in very trying times where a little bit more respect for our fellow human would go a very long way.
