Are You Going To The Bridges for Music Fundraising Gala

For the 3rd year running, Bridges for Music, the non-profit organisation that has recently completed the much-hyped Bridges Academy in Langa, is hosting their annual fundraising gala on 28th February at 8pm at the V&A Aquarium in association with Ultra South Africa.

Year 1 had DJ Snake in attendance who, while at the event, reached out to his philanthropic friend, Skrillex, via video call, who then bid on a number of items and managed to, with the help of DJ Fresh and others, raise in excess of R550k in one evening.  Other celebrities and international musical superstars in attendance included Nic Fanciulli, DJ Fresh , Euphonik , Katlego Maboe, Alice Phoebe Lou and more.

Year 2 welcomed back DJ Fresh and Euphonik, and also Grammy Awarded artist Dubfire (Deep Dish), Mum-Z and again, Alice Phoebe Lou, who performed to much acclaim.  R 250,000 was raised and helped the school go a long way towards finishing construction.

“This event is a beautiful example of the power of music to make a positive change and bring the music community together. We are proud of the partnership with Ultra South Africa and thankful to all the local and international artists that join us for this special evening.  Together we can make the Bridges Academy in Langa a world-class learning hub,” says Valentino Barrioseta, Director of Bridges for Music.

The 2019 event will be held at the Cape Town Aquarium, in the I&J Expo Room as it’s known.  Very limited tickets are available and the funds raised from the auction and ticket sales on the night will go towards sponsoring the last computers and pieces of equipment.

The exclusive auction will feature items such as original works from artists Richard Scott, Fringe, Logan Hicks, the Spier Arts Trust, some of the latest Dj Gear by Pioneer DJ and exclusive Nando’s and Ultra South Africa hampers.

The evening will also see the Introduction and awarding of the first annual  ‘Bridges for Music Nando’s Award for positive contributions to the South African Music Scene’.
