This is honestly one of the best things I’ve ever come across on the internet and I happened to stumble upon it while searching for awesome football goals. Here’s the backstory to the video:
Lionel Messi had organised a charity football match in Chicago, USA which would feature names like Henry, Fabregas and David Luiz in a ‘Messi and Friends Vs ‘The Rest of The World’ type format. Unfortunately, being the douchey type that footballers are sometimes, some of the big name players could not make it to the match, which meant they had to get some players from the nearby Northwestern University to fill in for the absentees. Here’s where Matt Eliason comes in… This financial analyst from Northwestern University went on to score one of the most amazing goals I’ve ever seen while playing alongside some of the best footballers on the planet.
In the 29th minute Matt Eliason chests a cross-field pass from Thierry Henry and then fires off a fairly epic bicycle kick, which beats the keeper. Then to top it all off, he gets mad props from both Florent Malouda and Henry for what he’s just pulled off. Once again, I reiterate, this dude is not a professional footballer! Amazing.
Lets hope someone in the MLS takes note and signs him up – he’s honestly wasted in finance.
