Algoraves – just like a rave but with worse music

This is most definitely the weirdest form of electronic dance music party I’ve ever come across. The Algorave is a brand new type of “rave” where everyone in attendance jams the night away to music that has been generated by computer algorithms. At first glance, that seems like it might be a good idea, however when you actually listen to the “music” that is produced by the tech, you realise that it’s something that’s never going to catch on.

The explanation of an Algorave and its accompanying music goes like this:

“Sounds wholly or predominantly characterised by the emission of a succession of repetitive conditionals” – Algoraves are said to embrace the alien sounds of raves from the past and introduce futuristic rhythms and beats made through strange, algorithm-aided processes

– all that this means is that the music will only appeal to robots

You can check out what a real Algorave is like in the video below – am I wrong? Would you go to one of these?:

Im a guy with a very particular view of life... im not quite sure what that view is just yet, but when I find out I'll be sure to let you know...

  1. the music sounds pretty much like Industrial Hardcore (not to be confused with Industrial), in a less structured manner. Industrial Hardcore is a huge genre…maybe you should get out more!

  2. It’s not produced by the tech, it’s produced by the people making the tech
