Absa has just unveiled their new look and brand strategy as well an awesome new service that will definitely take streamlining their user’s lives to a whole new level.
While WhatsApp has recently made its way into banking with WhatsApp Pay launched successfully in India this past May, Absa South Africa will be the first in the world to fully launch the service. Absa stated during its brand launch that their ‘social media banking’ features, along with their rebranding, are part of the group’s digital banking strategy going forward.

To use WhatsApp banking, you need to follow these steps:
- Add Absa (086 000 8600) as a contact on your device
- Open WhatsApp and find the new contact
- Simply say ‘hi’ to your Absa contact.
For the ChatBanking service to work, clients need to register on their Absa banking profile. To do this:
- Go to ‘Settings’
- Click on ‘Manage ChatBanking’
- Click on ‘Add Profile’ and follow the prompts.
