Come and fill your heart, mind and soul at the super-billed Unity Music Festival at Bay Harbour Market on the 16th December from midday to 6pm and dance your socks off by the sea in style!
The Unity Music Festival is headlined by Jesse Clegg, our very own platinum-selling, singer, player, songwriter with three SAMA nominations to his name. Jesse is also the official ambassador for the Nelson Mandela 46664 Foundation – apt for this Day of Reconciliation music festival. Jesse has performed alongside the likes of Stevie Wonder, Black Eyed Peas, Alicia Keys and many others.
The Unity Music Festival is an opportunity to celebrate our unity of spirit, particularly at this time in celebration of the greatest man that ever lived, and to bring the people of Hout Bay – and indeed Cape Town – together. Bringing people together from all communities is part of the Bay Harbour Market ethos so what better day to do this on than the Day of Reconciliation.
Says Anthony Stroebel, co-owner of Bay Harbour Market, “It is apt that we are choosing this day to celebrate the diversity of our cultures that make Hout Bay such a colourful and energetic community. Obviously, it will also give people a chance to celebrate the life of Nelson Mandela and what better way than to do it by dancing!”
There is a large eclectic artists’ line-up playing everything from reggae, hip hop, electro beats with an authentic local flavour, to pop-rock and soulful sound with “bluesy” undertones, to African jazz with traditional African rhythms and contemporary melodies, to Central and West African folk music fused with Afro-Latin beats! There will also be a ‘dance-off’ between various dance crews from Hangberg who will battle it out in ‘The Battle of the ‘Berg’.
Selected food stalls will be open as well as a full bar, promising an entertaining event with world-class entertainment in a warm and vibrant setting. Limited tickets are available.
