The Eden Experience returns back to the award-winning Zevenwacht Wine Estate on the 16 February 2019 where music, nature and summer skies will combine to bring you their most prolific celebration of the year and season closer. The gorgeous venue is less than 35mins from Cape Town CBD and party attendees can look forward to another plush summer adventure with an explosive lineup.
Founded only four years ago, back in January 2015 by four friends; Dane Stirrat, Nick Dekker, David Torr and Kole Roder, The Eden Experience has become one of Cape Town’s most popular summer events to date. Loved for their exclusive venue, high-end production but more importantly, Eden’s grand and consistent lineups over it’s four short years on the scene have been notable and impressive.
From the very start, the talent represented on stage at Eden, both local and international have been artists of high acclaim. In such a short amount of time, the event has hosted K.A.L.I.L, Krash, Franky Rizardo, KVSH and Dubdogz to name a few. “The acts we bring down are often acts who really are making it big time in their respective fields. As Eden is always about good music, the artists we bring down have to bring a unique element to our events with the music they make and ultimately bring something fresh to our crowd,” co-founder Dane Stirrat notes when curating an Eden lineup.
Another noticeable element on most Eden lineups is all the amazing South American artists who often headline their events. The ‘Brazilian-Bass’ scene is explosive right now, with it being one of the hottest styles of music that young festival attendees seek to party to, but another aspect that makes these artists so attractive to book for a set here in SA is their down-to-earth approach to music-business. “We always want to bring acts who make the crowd PARTY,” Dane says, “ultimately people want to have a good time and let their hair down for 12 hours. We really feel that the Brazilian artists are a little more conservative and negotiable with their set fees” he notes, explaining the important balance between crowd appeal and business-sense, “The right balance is always found with the Brazilian acts when looking at fees, crowd pull, social media presence, style of music and so on.”
But it’s not all about the big internationals with The Eden Experience, the event also has a keen focus and upliftment for our local artists. The lineup curation focuses on the way the music will progress over 12 hours- usually from daytime house to tech-house followed by international acts and then ending off on an electric note of Trance. Local artists have an important place on every Eden slot, “they really do such a fantastic job at filling the progression gaps and adding to our overall Eden Experience,” Dane says, “we have such an amazing range of artists and we really have built up such an incredible, local and international family since our inception in 2015.”
This weekend, The Eden Experience will host their summer-closing party at the gorgeous Zevenwacht Wine Estate, and as with every Eden gathering, their lineup is irresistible, featuring international artists Ruback, Evokings and Dubdogz -who return to for their second Eden Experience. “Bringing back the DubDogz alone is super special as their first gig in South Africa was at Eden 2017 and they absolutely loved every minute of it,” Says Stirrat of the popular duo’s return. Evokings, on the other hand, are relative newcomers to the Brazilian scene, but their music has a lot of European Tech House influence and the duo are gaining great traction, “I actually play quite a few of their tracks [Evokings] in my sets and they always set the dancefloor on fire!” Other notable artists co-founder Dane Stirrat says he excited for this weekend are Joburg heavyweights, Kyle Cassim and Vimo, as well as ANT, who makes his Eden debut.
