Last week was dominated by a bit of news surrounding the line up of this year’s edition of the South’s biggest commercial music festival when one of the original artists were removed from the bill.
After receiving numerous messages of concern around the content of Jack Parow’s songs, the station has decided to review the proposed line up and remove the rapper from the bill.
This what KFM station manager Colleen Louw had to say:
“We respect Jack Parow as an artist and as a performer. However, our listeners are the core of our radio station and we cannot ignore their concerns,” said Kfm station manager Colleen Louw.
“The feedback we have received from listeners made it clear that we need to reconsider Jack Parow’s appearance at K Day.”
In typical Jack Parow fashion he had some eloquent words lying around his vocabulary and came up with this response of Facebook:
[Jack Parow] Is no longer at KDAY…people were to scared I was going to walk out on stage and start killing baby labradors, marinating and braaing them and then serving them to their children…I only did that ONCE okay…fok…idiots
This year the event has been moved to the stunning the Val De Vie Wine and Polo Estate in Paarl.
The final lineup for K-Day 2011 is as follows:
Prime Circle | Loyiso | Danny K | Flash Republic | Lavuvuzela | Good Luck | Chad Saaiman | Dr Victor and the Rasta Rebels
Prices: R80p/c for kids | R160p/p for adults
Gates will open at 09:00
Tickets can be purchased through Computicket.
I am really amped to go and check it out this year, it’ll be my first K-Day and I’m sure its going to be a cool South African inspired day out in the sun, whether Jack Parow is on the bill or not.
