5 Ways to truly immerse yourself in the ‘Bazique Festival’ experience this weekend

In less than three years, Bazique Festival has firmly established itself as South Africa’s most original and exciting, large-scale festival of performing art and was even voted ‘World’s Best Boutique Festival ‘ at the Tuvalu International Festival Awards. This weekend the festival will be hosted at their stunning new venue, Ruitersvlei Estate near Paarl, just a short road trip from Cape Town.

The breathtaking new space and its centrepiece swimming lake will play host to a weekend of art and music featuring spectacular installations to muse over, art-cars, art-boats and pop-up exhibitions plus an astronomical lineup of all kinds of electronic and live music from both local and international artists.

1 Dress Up

As always, costumes are optional but are enthusiastically encouraged at Bazique Festival. Every year, the are a variety of themed spaces and environments that you can draw inspiration from. Bazique is partly an open-source creative – in other words, some of the content, artwork and ideas are generated by the public – in just the same way, your outlandish ‘expression of self’ ultimately forms part of the entire festival’s landscape of “art and absurdism.”
