DStv Explora decoder to offer Netflix and Amazon Prime

Multichoice has announced it plans to partner with third-party streaming services Netflix and Amazon Prime in a move intended to help retain DStv subscribers.

In a recent statement detailing the company’s financial results, Multichoice announced a major deal has been signed with both Netflix and Amazon to offer local viewers exclusive content from each platform via Multichoice’s latest DStv ‘Explora’ personal video recorder (PVR) decoder.

“The recently signed distribution agreements with two major international Subscription Video on Demand (SVOD) providers will ensure that customers have access to a wider variety of content, all in a single place.” – Calvo Mawela, Multichoice Chief Executive Officer

A Multichoice spokesperson said that more details regarding monthly fees and launch date will be announced in the coming weeks.
